The Miami Heat was founded in 1987 and named because of the Florida heat. The name narrowly prevailed against Miami Vice, which is used as the name of the retro collection these days. They play their home games at the American Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami. The Miami Heat began its rise in the 1990s with the signing of Head Coach and Team President Pat Riley. With players like Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway, the team was one of the favorites in the East, but was never able to prevail against teams like the Chicago Bulls. In 2003 Dwyane Wade was drafted and when Shaquille O'Neal was also signed, the first title in franchise history was won against Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks in 2006. In 2010 the Heat caused a sensation when they were able to sign superstar LeBron James in addition to Chris Bosh in the Free Agency. Together with Dwyane Wade, the trio brought two more titles to Miami. After Wade and Bosh ended their careers and Lebron James left the team, the Heat try to build up a powerful team around Jimmy Butler again.
