Cincinnati Bengals Caps

The Cincinnati Bengals are a traditional NFL team from the AFC North. The Bengals qualified for the playoffs five times in a row between 2011 and 2015, but it was always the end of the first playoff game. Nevertheless, the successful years with many talented players ensured that there were also many Bengal fans in Europe.

The Cincinnati Bengals have existed under this name since 1967, took part in the regular game operations of the former AFL (American Football League) for the 1968 season and came into the National Football League in 1970 following the merger between AFL and NFL. The team name is based on a former football team from Cincinnatis and refers to the city's famous zoo, which is the second oldest in the entire United States and made headlines with a rare white Bengal tiger.

Although the Cincinnati Bengals have been part of the NFL game since 1970, they haven't had a Super Bowl win yet. Although they appeared twice in the NFL final in 1981 and 1988, they were beaten by the San Francisco 49ers in both Super Bowls. After the death of owner Paul Brown, years of horror followed for the Bengal fans after 1990. 15 years in a row there were more defeats than victories for the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of the season. Since the mid-2000s, the Bengals have been on a better path again. After AJ Green and Andy Dalton selected two promising talents from Cincinnati in the 2011 draft, the Bengals even got into the playoffs five times in a row, but were eliminated in the first game. Since then, it has stagnated, so that longtime head coach Marvin Lewis was released after the 2018 season and fresh blood was brought to Cincinnati, Ohio with Zac Taylor.

Which colors and logos are the most popular?

The team colors of the Cincinnati Bengal have always been orange, black and white in accordance with the fur colors of the Bengal tiger. After the first Bengal logo showed the caricature of a tiger running upright with a football in hand, the following logos were kept much simpler. From 1970 to 1996, an orange football helmet was used, which was still labeled Bengal for the first ten years and from 1981 only the black tiger stripes. Before the still present large B with the three black tiger stripes was introduced as the primary logo in 2004, the logo showed the jumping tiger in front of the Cincinnati Bengals lettering six years earlier. Since the Bengal tiger is no longer represented in the primary Bengal logo, the roaring tiger head in the team colors has served as an alternative logo since 2004 and, like the current primary logo, is represented on Bengal caps. Most Cincinnati Bengal fans have a dark cap with the current logo embroidered on the front. While the alternative logo is also used extensively for merchandise products, the earlier Cincinnati Bengals logos are hardly used anymore.

Which cap shapes are most popular with NFL caps?

New Era Fitted Caps (59fifty & 39thirty) are usually the most popular among NFL fans. The best-selling fitted caps of the Cincinnati Bengals have the embroidered orange black logo on the front. The Old Era Snapback variants (e.g. 9Fifty) are particularly popular with old school fans. Special collections that are worn on the NFL field, such as the Sideline Caps by New Era, are also very popular with Cincinnati Bengal fans.
