San Antonio Spurs Caps

The San Antonio Spurs have always been considered a franchise of actions rather than words. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, together with David Robinson and Kawhi Leonard, have been responsible for titles. San Antonio Spurs caps are available both very subtle with the current, as well as very poppy with oldschool logo.

The San Antonio Spurs were founded in 1967 as the Dallas Chaparrals and originally played in the ABA. In 1973, the team moved to San Antonio and renamed itself the San Antonio Spurs. Three years later, the ABA was merged with the NBA and the Spurs became an NBA team. They now play in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference. The name refers to the spur attached to the riding boot. The Spurs play their home games at the AT&T Center in front of crowds of up to 18,797. With George Gervin, the Spurs had a real star in their ranks right from the start in the NBA, who became scoring champion in 1978. When he was traded to the Bulls in 1985, the team fell into a hole and even considered moving to another city. In 1987, however, the Spurs selected David Robinson in the draft and when he entered the NBA in 1990, the team's rise also began. Robinson became scoring champion in 1994 and even MVP in 1995. He got a co-star with Dennis Rodman at the side, but he was given away after quarrels. In 1997, Tim Duncan was selected in the draft, and just like Robinson, he went straight to Rookie of the Year. The first title was won in 1999 against the New York Knicks and in 2003 David Robinson won the second title in his farewell season against the New Jersey Nets. With Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker were the new key players alongside Duncan and with this team the Spurs won the third NBA Championship against the Detroit Pistons in 2005 and the fourth title against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007. The next time the Spurs were in the NBA Finals was in 2013, but they lost to the Miami Heat in seven games. In 2014, they got revenge and this time the Spurs won 4-1 with Kawhi Leonard as Finals MVP.

However, Kawhi Leonard left in 2018 in a dispute to the Toronto Raptors, where he also became champion. The Spurs, on the other hand, have not been able to have a say in the title race since his departure. What cap styles and designs are available for San Antonio Spurs caps?

What colors and logos are most popular on San Antonio Spurs caps?

San Antonio Spurs team colors are black, silver and white. Therefore, most San Antonio Spurs caps are in these colors. The original logo was a black lettering with a gray 3D effect. The U was shown lying down and had a spore at the bottom. The city name is in black above it. In 1990, the logo was adapted and got a tri-color background in turquoise, pink and orange. These colors were meant to represent the Mexican population in the city and the logo was known as the Fiesta logo. In 2003, the colors disappeared again and the lettering was modernized. The 3D effect was dropped and the U with the spore was no longer horizontal.

The lettering was slightly curved and had a gray background with a black outer contour. In 2017 came the final customization, where the background was removed again and the letters - except for the U with the spore - were completely simplified. Most San Antonio Spurs caps use the current logo. Retro variants are available with the last logo in gray or the Fiesta variant.

Most popular San Antonio Spurs Caps:

  • black snapback with Fiesta logo
  • black Snapback with Team Arch Logo
  • black curved visor with current logo
  • black snapback with the U with the spore

What cap styles are most popular for San Antonio caps?

Most NBA fans like to wear snapback caps, as they have been worn since the 90s with straight visor and high crown. New Era 9Fifty and Mitchell & Ness snapbacks belong to this category. If you prefer curved visors you can go for New Era 9Fifty Stretch Caps or 110 Flexfit Caps from Mitchell & Ness. Classic baseball caps with flat crown and curved visor are available from New Era as 9Forty. Fitted caps like 59Fifty from New Era hardly play a role among NBA fans, but are popular with collectors.
