In October 1999, Houston was approved as the 32nd NFL franchise. After the Houston Oilers previously left the city and henceforth formed the Tennessee Titans, Houston was awarded the contract before Toronto and the then teamless Los Angeles in the course of increasing the NFL to 32 teams. The name Texans prevailed in the final decision against the Apollos and the Stallions, so that the new team in the heart of Texas started in 2002 under the name Houston Texans in the National Football League. As is so often the case with expansion teams, the start of the Texans in the NFL was initially difficult. After the first five seasons ended with a negative balance, two seasons followed, each with a balanced balance. In 2009, the team's first season finally followed with a winning record at the end of the season. Finally, two years later, the first division victory, the first playoff participation and the first victory in the playoffs were in the history books. The Texans are currently the only franchise in the league that has not yet played a Conference Championship game, but they are now a very solid team in the NFL. This also speaks for the fact that the Houston Texans have won the AFC South in three of the last four years and thus each reached the playoffs. In addition, Defensive End and star player JJ Watt have won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year title three times. The future Hall of Famer also has a huge share in the great popularity of the Houston Texans.

Which colors and logos are the most popular?
How should it be otherwise in the state of Texas, a bull (Spanish battle cow) serves as the logo of the Houston Texans. The abstract bull head in the colors red, white and blue is supposed to represent the flag of Texas. Owner McNair described the colors as "Deep Steel Blue, Battle Red and Liberty White". The white pentagonal star that forms the bull's left eye is said to represent pride, courage, strength, tradition and independence. In addition to the primary logo, the Houston Texans have some alternative logos with the word mark HOUSTON TEXANS in various variations of the team colors. Another alternate logo also shows the state of Texas with a star at Houston's location. The capital letters H and T are located above the state. This alternative logo is also available in a wide variety of color combinations. On Houston Texans Caps and other Houston Texans merchandise, however, you can usually only find the primary logo.
